HOW ARE PRODUCTS PACKAGE?
Our products are shipped frozen. They are packed in an insulated cooler with ice packs or dry ice so they arrive at your door fresh.
ARE EGUNSIFOODS PRODUCTS VEGAN?
We launched with our vegan soups and sauces in July of 2017 and we've subsequently launched our meat-based soups and sauces in November of 2020. Our vegan products can also be use as a recipe starter or simmering sauces, adding any type of proteins or vegetables you desire, i.e. you can simmer fish, meat, vegetable or poached eggs to the Obe Ata (West African Tomato) Soup and other the soups. WHEN ARE ORDERS SHIPPED AND DELIVERED?
We now ship out to our customers Mondays through Wednesdays. All orders placed after 12:00pm EST a day before will ship the following day, this is to ensure that your products have adequate time to arrive from our kitchen to yours without waiting in the shipping carrier warehouse where the products may defrost and expire. Perishable items cannot be shipped over the weekend and cannot be delivered on Sundays, Mondays or on the following major holidays: New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas. Orders cannot be shipped to a PO Box or to a military post office. To ensure your soups or sauces arrives 1-2 Business Days after placing order, your order must be placed before 12:00pm EST Mondays through Wednesdays.
Please note that weather delays, particularly in winter, may impact these delivery windows and Egunsifoods is not responsible for delays due to weather conditions or other natural causes beyond our control.
WHY ARE YOUR SOUPS AND SAUCES COST HIGH?
We source the raw materials used in our products from small farmers in West Africa and local farmers, as well as produce our products with whole ingredients, no filler added, nor artificial flavors or colors used - all this comes with a cost. Also, shipping our all-natural, perishable products requires extra materials such as gel packs or dry ice, insulated boxes, as well requiring two day delivery in order to keep the products at a safe temperature while in transit. This makes the overall cost of shipping higher than when purchasing shelf stable products online. We are continually working to pass on cost savings to our customers as we get reduction in prices both with our shipping carriers and cost of our goods sold as we scale.
DO YOU OFFER LOCAL DELIVERY?
No we do not at the moment, but we are working toward this. Our products can however be purchase on our online store or in our partner stores.
WHERE DO YOU DELIVER FROM?
We deliver from New York City to anywhere in the United States with exception to its Territory.
WHAT SHIPPING METHOD ARE USED AND SHIPPING RATES?
Our products ship via FEDEX, with 1-2 DAY shipping on all order in 48 States and District of Columbia. A surcharge of $43.40 - $50.02 for 2 Day Delivery (Package includes 4-jars of Soups or Sauces or 8-jar of Soups) applies to deliveries to Alaska and Hawaii. If you are interested in having your order shipped overnight, there is an option for this with additional shipping rate base on your zip code.
DOES SOMEONE HAVE TO BE PRESENT TO ACCEPT DELIVERY OF A SHIPMENT?
No. Because all of our items are perishable, orders are shipped “signature release”. This means carriers will leave the package at the doorstep, front desk or gate associated with the shipping address without requiring a signature at the time of delivery. However, if you plan to be away for the day of delivery, it is the customer’s responsibility to arrange for someone to pick up the package and freeze or refrigerate the items as required.

Both! Egunsi Foods’ uniquely versatile West African favorites are home kitchen heroes, ready in a snap. Each colorful soup is packed with nutritious ingredients and brings bright, bold and warming flavors to weekday meals, without the cook time typically required for traditional African dishes. The soups can be enjoyed on their own as-is, used as a simmer sauce or marinade for protein, starter for hearty stews, and much more - this is in keeping with the heritage of how our soups are used. WHAT IS THE SHELF LIFE OF YOUR PRODUCTS?
Our products are produce in small batch and chilled quickly to preserve the flavors, taste and nutrients. Our Soups and Sauces last for 100 days in the refrigerator or kept frozen for 12 months. Once open we recommend to consume within 7 Days to keep its freshness and optimal quality.
HOW DO YOU PRONOUNCE THE COMPANY NAME?
Phonetically it's pronounce A-Goo(n)-See (the Goo is the same sound as when you pronounce the beginning of google with a silent "n" sound at the end), not E-Gun-See, named after a well known West African seed use for making the famous Egunsi Stew.

DO YOU HAVE A LARGER SIZE SOUP PACK?
Yes we do, check out our family size pack here.They come in two 4 pound pouches and flavors can be customized to suit your needs, each comes in 8 servings per bag. Each bag is a little bit over our 4 jar size pack of soup. Family size pack sells at 20% less than the price of the 4 jar pack size soup. For heating direction; on stove top, pour content of bag in a sauce pan and let come to a simmer for 15 minutes and serve. Heating in the bag; place unopened bag in rapidly boiling water for approximately 25 minutes. Initial temperature is best at 175°F. Soup bags are safe to be heated up in hot water.
